Tullow has been active in India since 1998 and currently has interests in two onshore Blocks, CB-ON/1 in Cambay and AA-ONJ-2 in Assam.

Tullow’s main focus is on Block CB-ON-1 (Tullow 50%) which lies within the prolific Cambay Basin, a region where a number of major oil discoveries have been made both to the north (Sanchor / Barmer Basin in Rajasthan) and to the south (Cambay Basin).

Following the acquisition and processing of 1,900 km 2D seismic, a three-well drilling programme commenced in June 2008. All three wells were unsuccessful and the rig has been released. Partners will now reassess the remaining prospectivity of the block and focus on relinquishing a proportion of the block in March 2009.
