Tullow operates two licences in the Tanzanian portion of the Ruvuma Basin.  The acreage involved lies approximately 500 km south of Dar es Salaam, along the Mozambique border and comprises the Mtwara and Lindi licences. The licences are adjacent to the Mnazi Bay gas field, discovered in the 1980's and currently under development.

Tullow recently acquired 545 km of new 2D seismic data and in conjunction with the 1,400 km of existing seismic data defined a number of prospects for drilling.  Both Tertiary and Cretaceous targets will be evaluated in a drilling campaign which is due to commence in the first half of 2009.  Two wells will be drilled to test potential oil plays in the Lindi and Mtwara blocks. This work program will fulfil the current work obligations.
