Madagascar Operations and Licences
Operations
Tullow operates two onshore licences in the Morandava Basin - Block 3109 (Mandabe) and Block 3111 (Berenty).
Block 3109 covers 11,050 sq km in the southwest of the country. Tullow recently acquired an extension to the initial exploration period in order to acquire 300km of 2D seismic data in the first quarter of 2009. This work will fulfill the commitment on this licence. Tullow utilised the 6,700 km of aerogravity/magnetic data to design the survey which focuses on the region where the source rock is considered to be mature.
Block 3111 lies adjacent to, and south of, Block 3109 and covers 9,050 sq km. The planned work program, which will be carried out in the first quarter of 2009, is the recording and processing of some 296 km of 2D. The initial 3-year exploration work program includes the acquisition of 2D seismic and the drilling of one well.
