In Côte d'Ivoire Tullow has production, development and exploration interests in several offshore blocks: CI-102, CI-103, CI-105, and CI-26 Special Area E.

Block CI-26 comprises the East and West Espoir fields, which started production in February 2002 and July 2006 respectively. Development of the West Espoir field completed in January 2008.

Gross production levels from East and West Espoir are expected to average approximately 29,000 boepd for 2008. All fluids are gathered and processed on the Espoir Ivoirien FPSO. Production rates are currently restricted by facilities constraints however an FPSO upgrade project will address this issue. The upgrade project is on track for completion in the second half of 2009.

Exploration in Côte d'Ivoire is focused on two offshore areas. In the west of the basin, new 2D seismic data was acquired in Block CI-105 during 2008. This data will be interpreted together with reprocessed 3D data to provide a comprehensive geological review in preparation for a well in 2009.

To the east of Espoir, a new PSC has been signed on Block CI-102, with a commitment to reprocess existing 3D seismic data. In Block CI-103, acquisition of 600 sq km of new 3D completed at end 2007. The processing of the new data and re-processing of existing data in these two blocks will enhance our understanding of the large Ako structure.  It will also enable us to delineate prospectivity in both the conventional Albian play and in younger channel and fan systems similar to the Mahogany/Hyedua complex.
